What Is The Command Prompt?

The command prompt is basically a non-graphical interface able to interact with your operating system through command lines. You can do things like check IP address of your computer, release and renew the IP address if your internet isn't working properly (for information about this, see the I am not getting internet connection article ), manipulate files that couldn't be done in Windows, troubleshoot problems that couldn't be fixed in Windows, etc. It is mainly used for advanced users who deal with computer networks or other advanced tasks.

You access the prompt command by clicking on the start button at the bottom left corner, and then click on run.
